Grace for the In-Between Days

Not every hard day is loud. Some days do not come with anxiety or overwhelm. They do not announce themselves with urgency or crisis. They just feel off. Your energy is lower, your mood is quieter, and your body feels like it is working a little harder than usual. You are still showing up, but you do not quite feel like yourself.

And if you are someone who is used to performing, producing, leading, and pushing forward, these are often the days that feel the most frustrating. Because nothing is technically wrong, but everything feels slightly harder.

I know what that feels like.

And for many, the first instinct is to fix it. To push through. To override it. To get back to normal as quickly as possible. But what if days like this are not problems to solve? What if they are signals to listen to?

There is a verse that meets us in this space. My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. 2 Corinthians 12:9. Not when everything is clicking. Not when energy is high, and momentum is strong. But right here, in the middle of the in-between.

This is where the Yellow Light Moment shows up. Not as a stop. Not as a breakdown. But as an invitation to yield, to listen, and to move differently. Because not every day is meant for pushing. Some days are meant for preserving.

A Yellow Light Day is not about doing nothing. It is about doing what matters differently. It is pausing the pressure to feel better immediately and allowing the day to be what it is without labeling it as good or bad. It is tuning into what your body and mind are asking for: rest, quiet, space, simplicity, and choosing awareness over fixing. It is taking one small, supportive step forward, whether that is a short walk, a glass of water, a moment outside, or a shorter to-do list. The movement is still there, but it is gentle, not forceful.

We often associate discipline with pushing harder, but there is another form of discipline that does not get talked about enough. The discipline to pause. The discipline to listen. The discipline to not override what your body is telling you. That is not a weakness. That is wisdom.

If today feels off, lower the bar but keep the intention. Protect your energy instead of spending it all. Let good enough be enough. And most importantly, trust that this day still counts.

Because your health, your vitality, and your life are not built only on your strongest days. They are built on how you show up in the in-between.

So here is a question to sit with. What would it look like to stop trying to fix today and simply support yourself through it?

If today is one of those days for you, you are not alone in it. And you do not have to push your way through. Sometimes the most powerful move you can make is a softer one.
